Planning and Development issues have divided communities for as long as I can remember.
The electorate of Unley in particular, has a unique character. Should this be maintained at the expense of urban infill or can we successfully combine the two? Or is heritage a nod to the past that we can’t afford to keep?
Should decisions rest with the local council or should the state government have the final say?
While we have a housing crisis in SA that has only become worse under Labor, further development is essential but what form should it take?
These are questions that have been raised with me time and time again as I move around the Unley electorate.
I encourage you to let me know where you stand on this important, yet difficult policy area.
If elected, I will listen to you on this and every issue. I will take your concerns to Parliament without fear or favour. Ongoing consultation with the electorate is essential. So when it comes to planning, development and heritage matters, or any matters of importance to you, I will represent you to the best of my ability.
The Malinauskas Labor Government is largely a one-man-band. The Premier and one or two Ministers make the decisions and the Labor backbench is largely irrelevant other than to make up the numbers.
I will provide you with real representation. I will represent you with pride as the Liberal Member for Unley.
(The proposed development planned for King William Road is currently before the State Commission Assessment Panel (SCAP) and if the recent decision by the SCAP to approve 20 Story apartment buildings in Glenside is anything to go by, Labor Minister Nick Champion is likely to give the King William Road development the tick of approval.)
